The Catlins

The Catlins

The Catlins is a mix of beautiful native forest, rural farmland and golden sand beaches. Along with a multitude of native wildlife including the yellow eyed penguin, sea lion, elephant seal and dolphins there is an abundance of waterfalls including the much photographed Purakaunui Falls scattered through some stunning short native forest walks.

The Catlins is also home to a 180 year old Petrified Forest, Cathedral Cave (accessible at low tide) and Nugget Point lighthouse.
