Picton and Marlborough Sounds
The stunning waters of Marlborough Sounds are made up of four different sounds: Queen Charlotte Sound, Kenepuru, Pelorus and Mahau. The area is fantastic for boating, diving, wildlife and dolphin watching. When travelling from Wellington in the north to Picton in the south (or vice versa), enjoy the beautifully picturesque, clear and still waters of the Queen Charlotte Sound. Picton is a pretty seaside township snuggled into the top of Queen Charlotte Sound and is a major transport hub for the South Island. The ferry terminal connecting the North & South Islands is located here along with the Coastal Pacific train which runs along the East Coast to Christchurch.
