Napier

The coastal city of Napier is located on the east coast of the North Island in the fantastic wine producing region of Hawkes Bay. Renowned for its Art Deco and Spanish Mission architecture styles which came about due to a major earthquake in 1931 that destroyed the commercial centre, resulting in the town being rebuilt in the popular styles of the time. Every February thousands of visitor’s flock to Napier for the Art Deco Festival, a celebration of the towns unique Art Deco heritage and history - though visitors can enjoy the beautifully preserved 1930’a architecture any time of year. The town also boast a seaside resort feel with palm trees lining the inner-city streets and waterfront promenade, refreshing sea breezes and some of the best sunshine hours in New Zealand.
