Day By Day Itinerary
DAY 1 - WELLINGTON / TAUPO
Board your coach for your journey north out of the capital city, along the Kapiti Coast and over the Manawatu Plain to Palmerston North before skirting the volcanic plateau to Taupo. The afternoon is free at leisure for your own activities or to relax and take in the beautiful scenery.
DAY 2 - TAUPO / ROTORUA
This morning is free for optional sightseeing. We suggest a visit to the Huka Falls or maybe some early morning lake fishing. Taupo is internationally recognised for its prized trophy-sized trout. In the afternoon depart Taupo for your journey to Rotorua.
DAY 3 - WAITOMO CAVES DAY TOUR
Leaving Rotorua this morning, relax and enjoy the commentary onboard your coach as you head toward Waitomo.
On arrival in the small town of Waitomo in the King Country, take a 45-minute guided tour through the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves, which were discovered in 1887 and are now one of New Zealand’s most popular tourist attractions. See vaulted caverns, stalactites and stalagmites and hear how these limestone formations were created over millions of years. Your tour ends with a boat ride through the Glowworm Grotto, a subterranean cavern illuminated by the lights of thousands of tiny glowworms – it’s magical!
After your Waitomo Caves tour, retrace your steps and return to Rotorua, arriving in the early afternoon. This evening we suggest you have a relaxing swim in the hot mineral waters of the Polynesian Spa.
DAY 4 - ROTORUA / NAPIER
Depart Rotorua for your journey south to Taupo. From Taupo the coach heads east over the volcanic plateau arriving in Napier. Time for a stroll along the streets of this beautiful Art Deco city or maybe a walk in the surf.
DAY 5 - NAPIER / WELLINGTON
Free time this morning to enjoy this lovely coastal township. This afternoon board your coach bound for Wellington travelling through the spectacular Manawatu Gorge to Palmerston North and then on down the Kapiti Coast into Wellington.
