TOUR TYPE - INDEPENDENT TOUR
Independent Tours are not escorted group tours - they are for independent travellers. What this means is that it is not the same group of people travelling on their own coach with a tour leader/escort looking after you. You are travelling independently. However, you are picked up and dropped off at your accommodation each morning and evening and interesting commentary is provided on many sectors.
Day By Day Itinerary
DAY 1 - WELCOME TO QUEENSTOWN
Welcome to Queenstown, New Zealand. You can arrive into Queenstown any time today. We have included an airport transfer to your accommodation – simply let us know your flight details.
DAY 2 - WALTER PEAK FARM TOUR / QUEENSTOWN GONDOLA & LUGE
Enjoy a cruise on the historic TSS Earnslaw across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station. Be entertained during a guided tour of the farmyard and the charming Colonel’s Homestead for a traditional high country morning or afternoon tea of scones, cakes & slices all freshly baked on site. After the delicious goodies, the farmer will lead you over to the shearing shed where you can watch the farm dogs rounding up sheep and see a sheep shearing display. Re-board the TSS Earnslaw for your cruise back across Lake Wakatipu to Queenstown. Today also includes entry on the Skyline Gondola along with 3 luge rides Travel 450 metres above Queenstown to the top of Bob’s Peak where you’ll enjoy the best views unfolding before your eyes. Later be thrilled as you travel down the luge course on purpose built luge carts. You have control as you take on over 800 metres of banked corners, tunnels and dippers. Once you’ve conquered the course, hop on the chairlift and do it all again!
DAY 3 - QUEENSTOWN / MILFORD SOUND / TE ANAU
A full day tour to the World Heritage listed Fiordland National Park – a truly spectacular region of snow capped mountain, glacier lakes, fiords, waterfalls and dense forest. From Te Anau, travel to the forested Eglington Valley, Mirror Lakes, Homer Tunnel and Chasm before arriving into Milford Sound. Enjoy a one and a half hour cruise of Milford Sound viewing the spectacular waterfalls and Mitre Peak. lunch is included for you. After your cruise, board your coach to Te Anau.

DAY 4 - TE ANAU GLOW WORM CAVES / QUEENSTOWN
This morning is free at leisure for you to enjoy the tranquil township of Te Anau. This afternoon, enjoy a visit to the Te Anau Glowworm Caves. You travel by boat across Lake Te Anau to Cavern House on the Western Shores. On arrival, join a nature guide for your Glowowrm experience both above and below ground. After your eyes adjust, marvel at the sight of these soft bodied beetles light up the darkness like stars. On your return to Te Anau township, join your coach for you journey back to Queenstown arrive late evening.
DAY 5 - FAREWELL FROM QUEENSTOWN
Your tour arrangements end this morning after checking out of your accommodation. You may like to add on a West Coast tour and continue your South Island experience or alternatively coach connection to Christchurch can be arranged.
