Day By Day Itinerary
DAY 1 - CHRISTCHURCH / GREYMOUTH / PUNAKAIKI / NELSON
Depart Christchurch aboard the world renowned TranzAlpine Train bound for Greymouth via the Arthur’s Pass National Park. Cross the Canterbury Plains, travel over viaducts and through tunnels and into the lush rainforests of the West Coast. On arrival in Greymouth board your coach for your journey north. A 45 minute stop is made at Punakaiki, enough time for you to view the Pancake Rocks & Blowholes. Your journey then continues on to Nelson.
DAY 2 - ABEL TASMAN CRUISE & WINE TOUR
Join a full day Abel Tasman Cruise & Wine Tour. Designed to fit in as much as possible, but still have a nice relaxing day. You will be collected from your accommodation in the morning and enjoy an informative drive out to Kaiteriteri. From here you will take a cruise or water taxi ride to Anchorage. Here you can take a short scenic walk or just relax on the beach and take in the picturesque scenery. On arrival back in Kaiteriteri, you continue on the tour, travelling to two of Nelsons award winning wineries and tasting some great wines. You will also stop at the historic Mapua Wharf that now holds some of the regions best boutique stores. There is a possibility for a swim during your time at Anchorage so please feel free to bring swim-wear and a change of clothing.
DAY 3 - NELSON AT LEISURE
Today you have a full free day at your own leisure to enjoy ‘sunny Nelson’. We are happy to recommend other activity ideas at time of booking. A morning city highlights tour, or spend an afternoon touring art & craft galleries – the choice is yours.
DAY 4 - NELSON / PICTON / WELLINGTON (OR CHRISTCHURCH)
Depart Nelson travelling through undulating hill country and the Nelson state forests to Picton, nestled in the Marlborough Sounds. Board the InterIslander for your ferry crossing to Wellington passing by many beautiful bays and hidden retreats along the way.
