Once on the West Coast we follow a narrow coastal strip of beech forest with spectacular mountain back drops south to the glaciers.

Today we have included a short sightseeing tour. You will be taken by shuttle to the Franz Josef Glacier viewing point. Visitors can view the glacier after a short 10 minute walk (un-guided). The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy your own activities. Perhaps a Glacier Heli Hike, a relaxing soak in the Glacier Hot Pools (additional cost) or one of the many beautiful walks in the area.

Stay: Franz Josef

We travel deeper into South Westland taking in the spectacle of Haast Pass, carved by the Haast River and framed by the Southern Alps. Take in the views of many beautiful lakes including Wanaka, Hawea, Dunstan and Wakatipu before arriving into Queenstown.

Stay: Queenstown

A full day for you to enjoy this fabulous resort style town – we have included the Skyline Gondola in your tour. There are dozens of optional activities as well including: thrilling jetboating on the rivers, white water rafting, helicopter rides, sky diving, AJ Hackett’s world famous bungy jumping, cruises on the lake and spectacular walking trails. The list is endless with something for everyone. Ask at time of booking if you would like us to include any additional activities.

Leaving Queenstown we travel north through the historic gold mining region of the rugged Kawarau Gorge to the fruit growing region of Cromwell. Skirting the shores of Lake Dunstan, created by the mighty Clyde hydro dam. Pass through the golden tussock country of the Lindis Pass to Omarama, our refreshment stop. Then it’s across the McKenzie Country, notable for the extensive hydro electric power development in the area, we then follow the shores of Lake Pukaki to Mt Cook National Park. There is a stop of approximately 1 hour & 15 minutes at Mt Cook village for lunch (own cost) then continue onto Lake Tekapo arriving mid afternoon. This evening enjoy a stargazing tour to Mt John observatory. See the wonders of the southern night sky, and experience the thrill of peering through powerful telescopes. When the stars are hidden from view, take a journey with us to discover the nocturnal world of an astronomer and see a range of research equipment not open to the general public and experience the working environment of an astronomer.

Stay: Tekapo

Enjoy the morning at leisure in Lake Tekapo taking in the beautiful vistas. Perhaps take a walk to the Church of the Good Shepherd. Departing Tekapo early afternoon, you travel through the rural towns of Fairlie and Geraldine, across the Canterbury Plains and into the “Garden City” of Christchurch where your tour concludes.

Hi Sophie

Everything went perfectly well. I really enjoyed these few day in NZ and I have plenty of pictures and memories about those amazing landscapes. It was too short actually but I will come back for sure, probably doing North island next time.

Thank you for your time, everything was really well organized and planned.

I am travelling alone – can I pay the triple or twin share rate and be linked with other travellers?
No, unfortunately. You must pay the single room – per person cost.

I am travelling with children, what price will I pay?

The coach does make various refreshment / comfort stops throughout the day where food can be purchased. Each evening you are free to relax and dine at you choice of restaurant either on site if you choose quality class, or just a short walk into town with tourist class. Can I add in additional nights to a tour?
Yes you can. All tours are very flexible. Please ask one of our Travel Consultants for extra nightly rates.

What is the difference between quality and tourist class accommodation?
Quality class:
Hotel style accommodation with a restaurant on site, 4 star standard. At times 4 star motor lodges are also used.
Tourist class: Self contained style accommodation with ensuite bathrooms and kitchenette facilities, 3.5 – 4 star standard. Breakfast provisions can be purchased from these properties but you will need to go to the town centre to purchase your evening meal. We endeavour where possible to book accommodation that is within easy walking distance of the centre of town.

What if I cannot find exactly what I am looking for on the website?
Let us know what is on your wish list to see and do and we are more than happy to help you plan a customised tour.

How much luggage can I take on my tour?
