I’ve been meaning to write you to let you know that I loved the South Island tour you arranged for me April 6-10. All of the vouchers/arrangements were perfect.

I loved the Novotel on the lake and the Distinction Fox Glacier was so beautiful. Much preferred that town to Franz Josef.
Many thanks again.
“Well what can I say? I have now returned home from a terrific holiday in your beautiful country.

I cannot thank you enough for everything that you did to make it so enjoyable. All the arrangements were perfect.

Taxis, vehicles, etc were there when you said they would be. Everyone knew I was coming. It was brilliant.

My kindest regards to you.”
“Hi, Recently my husband and I travelled to beautiful New Zealand. We booked our vacation with your company. We only wanted to spend four days and wanted to make the most of our time. We chose the south island. Your company was first class all the way. Every night we received a confirmation regarding the next day. It was fabulous.

Everyone was prompt. Our bus drivers were all excellent and professional and always gave us information about the area. We loved the stops for tea in the morning and afternoon. I even tried salmon from a salmon farm. It was spectacular.

Our accommodations were very comfortable and centrally located in the city we were visiting. We have recommended your company to our travel agent. We have had an absolutely wonderful time.

New Zealand is spectacular, Milford Sound and the TranzAlpin Train were definite highlights. However the whole trip was delightful. Very hard to leave New Zealand.

Please let me know if you need any kind of recommendation – truly unbelievable.”
“This tour exceeded my expectations. I found myself travelling on my own when my travel companions became ill and so had to change my plans and book a tour organised by yourselves. It couldn’t have been easier and travelling alone was not at all daunting (as I thought it might have been). I loved the scenery, the commentary, the people, the motels and the fruit I was able to buy in Cromwell!.

I loved sitting on the coach and being higher up than if I was in a car and being able to see so much more than if I was driving myself.

The coaches were clean, comfortable and kept at a pleasant temperature. The commentaries on all the coaches on which I travelled were without exception, excellent. Each driver had his own inimitable style, each was very knowledgeable and thoughtful of individuals’ needs. I would recommend Pacific Travel to others and I would use them again.

Thanks again for a great trip.”
“I wish to thank you for organising our 4 day tour in the South Island. We were exceedingly impressed with how everything went so smoothly. We had a lovely time. The scenery was so impressive, the hotels were excellent, the coach drivers were so well informed relaying so many interesting facts and the icing on the cake was the aircraft ride and also the helicopter trip.

Everything was seamless, ten minutes after leaving the cruise on Milford Sound we were up in an aircraft over the fiord. Similarly half an hour after arriving in Franz Josef we were up on top of the glacier.

I cannot thank you enough. “
We have just arrived back in the UK and I wanted to thank you so much for organising our tour in the South Island.

Everything went smoothly and we had a fantastic time. We loved New Zealand and just wish it was closer so we could visit frequently, admittedly we were fortunate with the weather.
Many thanks again.
“I just want to say how much we enjoyed our recent coach tour of New Zealand’s South Island.  The coach drivers were very well informed, especially Tom Gilles, the gentleman we had on our first day on the way to Queenstown.  We loved our cruise around Milford Sound.  Our trip to Franz Josef Glacier was spectacular and our accommodation there was particularly good.

The journey on the Trans-Alpine express was the real highlight of the journey.  I can also recommend Quest apartment accommodation in Christchurch.

Overall, the trip was a great success and I want to thank you for organizing it for us.  Back in Ireland now with lots of good memories. Many thanks.”
Hi Sophie

We had a wonderful trip! It was very well organized, great informative bus drivers, very nice accommodations and a very good value. You have a beautiful country, and all we saw makes me want to come back and take in more.

Thanks for all of your help in getting us booked at a late date.
Our Best to You and Pacific Travel.
Hi Lisa
We have just got back from nearly 3 weeks away – just over 2 of which were in New Zealand.

We had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed the trip that we did with you – the scenery was breathtaking and dramatic and both my husband, Mark and I both said that if we had to choose we preferred the south island.

The Great Sights team were superb – the right level of commentary – but we did have a favourite. We think the driver was called Geoff we think (he was an ex geography teacher and his knowledge of the terrain shone through) – he drove us on 16th Jan from Christchurch -Mount Cook – Queenstown. So massive thumbs up to him but the other two drivers were also good although less knowledgeable compared to Geoff.

We would definitely recommend this tour to people – we covered a lot of ground in a few days and really felt that we had been given a really good tour in terms of the locations we went to, the stops on the way, the commentary en route and the safety aspect of being driven in the coach (all were excellent drivers and we felt very safe).

I have sent you a link to some photos in a file I created for you in Google photos – I haven’t yet labelled where they all are yet but I’m sure you can see based on the tour that we did.
Thank you again for all you help. Wish we were there!! 🙂
Best wishes

However, you are picked up and dropped off at your accommodation each morning and evening and interesting commentary is provided on many sectors.

Frequently Asked Questions – Independent Tours

What is an Independent Tour?
Independent Tours are not escorted group tours - they are for independent travellers. What this means is that it is not the same group of people traveling on their own coach with a tour leader/escort looking after you. You are traveling independently.  However, you are picked up and dropped off at your accommodation each morning and evening and interesting commentary is provided on many sectors.

What dates do your tours depart?

All tours 2+ days in length include coach travel, transfers, accommodation and sightseeing activities where specified. A detailed travel wallet with your travel vouchers and comprehensive itinerary will be sent to your agent prior to your departure or delivered to your pre tour accommodation for you to collect on check in.

I am travelling alone – can I pay the triple or twin share rate and be linked with other travellers?
No, unfortunately. You must pay the single room – per person cost.

I am travelling with children, what price will I pay?
Please contact us for information on child fares, as these vary based on the specific product you require. Some sightseeing activities are unsuitable for children.

Are any meals included in the tour cost?
Our Independent Tours do not include meals. There are exceptions where a picnic lunch is included on particular sectors. The coach does make various refreshment / comfort stops throughout the day where food can be purchased. Each evening you are free to relax and dine at you choice of restaurant either on site if you choose quality class, or just a short walk into town with tourist class. Many accommodation providers offer a breakfast service which can be arranged directly.

As these tours are Independent, you do not have an escort traveling with you. However all coach drivers are experienced professionals. They will share their vast knowledge of our country with you by providing an informative commentary on most routes.

Can I add in additional nights to a tour?
Yes you can. All tours are very flexible. Please ask one of our Travel Consultants for extra nightly rates.

What is the difference between quality and tourist class accommodation?
Quality class:
Hotel style accommodation with a restaurant on site, 4 star standard. At times 4 star motor lodges are also used.
Tourist class: Self contained style accommodation with ensuite bathrooms and kitchenette facilities, 3.5 – 4 star standard. Breakfast provisions can be purchased from these properties but you will need to go to the town centre to purchase your evening meal. We endeavour where possible to book accommodation that is within easy walking distance of the centre of town.

What if I cannot find exactly what I am looking for on the website?
Let us know what is on your wish list to see and do and we are more than happy to help you plan a customised tour.

How much luggage can I take on my tour?
Each passenger may take 2 pieces of luggage (max 25kg each). For safety reasons, each passenger is limited to one carry on item (max 5kg). We also advise you check the maximum baggage allowance with your chosen airline.
