Day By Day Itinerary

DAY 1 - WELCOME TO WELLINGTON

On arrival in Wellington you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a sightseeing tour around the city. Stop at the Parliament buildings, home to New Zealand’s politicians. Visit Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand and explore the fascinating exhibits. Join your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a welcome reception and dinner.

Stay: Travel Lodge

DAY 2 - WELLINGTON / ROTORUA

Travel along the Kapiti Coast and head inland for views of the stunning of Mt. Ruapehu and the tussock plains of Tongariro National Park. Drive along the shoreline of Lake Taupo, and stop to view the mighty Huka Falls before continuing on to Rotorua. Tonight an evening of culture, history and scrumptious food awaits you at the Tamaki Maori Village. Learn about Maori art forms and traditions, followed by a concert featuring local performers. Then experience an authentic Maori Hangi meal, steamed underground in the traditional way.

Stay: Hotel Ibis

DAY 3 - ROTORUA

First up today is a visit to the Agrodome Farm Show, a hilarious, interactive slice of Kiwi farm life. The rest of the day is at leisure. You may want to visit Rainbow Springs – roam through native parklands then take a ‘behind the scenes’ tour through the working kiwi nursery and hatchery. Visit Te Puia and view the amazing geothermal mud pools and geysers. Or tour around Rotorua in an amphibious WW2 era Duck. This evening you have the option of staying with a nearby Kiwi family.

Stay: Hotel Ibis

DAY 4 - ROTORUA / AUCKLAND

This morning travel to the amazing limestone caverns that make up the Waitomo Caves. Tour through the caves, then board your little boat and glide silently through the starry wonderland of the Glowworm Grotto. Journey up to Auckland, following the path of the Waikato River. A city sights tour on arrival takes in Bastion Point, Viaduct Harbour and the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

Stay: VR Queen Street Hotel & Suites

DAY 5 - AUCKLAND / BAY OF ISLANDS

Depart Auckland and travel through Orewa and along the scenic Hibiscus Coast. Walk amongst Kauri trees at Parry Kauri Park. Then it’s off to the beautiful Bay of Islands. Take a scenic cruise through game fishing waters to Cape Brett and, weather permitting, through the famous ‘Hole in the Rock’ formation. The return cruise to Paihia meanders through picturesque islands, and past deserted secluded bays.

Stay: Copthorne Resort Bay of Islands

DAY 6 - BAY OF ISLANDS

You have a free day to experience the beauty of the Bay of Islands. Perhaps go dolphin watching, take a coach trip to Cape Reinga or discover the historic township of Russell. You could enjoy a day of sailing on a tall ship, sample local wine and chocolate on a tour around Kerikeri, or dine on an evening cruise down the Waitangi River. Your Travel Director will assist you in booking all of your chosen optional experiences.

Stay: Copthorne Resort Bay of Islands

DAY 7 - BAY OF ISLANDS / AUCKLAND

Before departing the Bay of Islands, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Waitangi Treaty Reserve, where New Zealand’s founding document, the Treaty of Waitangi, was signed (own expense). This afternoon sit, back and relax as you make your way down through Northland’s lush farmland scenery back into Auckland.

Stay: VR Queen Street Hotel & Suites

DAY 8 - FAREWELL FROM AUCKLAND

Your holiday concludes this morning after breakfast. You’ll be transferred to Auckland Airport for your onward flight.
