Christchurch to Queenstown via Mt Cook Day Tour

A fabulous one way day tour travelling south from Christchurch to Queenstown via Mt Cook Village. Mt Cook is Australasia's highest peak at 3754 metres, surrounded by 200sq km of alpine beauty featuring 12 glaciers. On a clear day stunning photographic opportunities abound.

Christchurch to Queenstown via Mt Cook Day Tour

Our journey to Mt Cook travels across the Canterbury Plains through Geraldine, Fairlie and Lake Tekapo where you can view the solitary Church of the Good Shepherd.

Our lunch stop (optional) is at Mt Cook situated in a national park and UNESCO World Heritage site. Here you have approximately 1.5 hours to enjoy this stunning area.

After lunch we leave Mt Cook bound for Queenstown passing on the way the many hydro electric power schemes of the McKenzie Basin. A short stop for afternoon tea (own expense) at Omarama and then it's through the tussock clad hills of the Lindis Pass to Cromwell, a major stone-fruit producing region.

From here we travel through the craggy Kawarau Gorge, past the famous Bungy Jump bridge and onto Queenstown overlooking beautiful Lake Wakatipu.

An amazing day! Commentary was very informative and the perfect amount. Great tour overall. Bus was comfortable, guide was very polite and informative, and saw some beautiful scenery. Highly recommended!
“Our driver was excellent, funny stories, informative geological facts about the glacier formations. Good way to get from Christchurch to Queenstown with a view of the lakes and Mt. Cook on the way.”
