Spectacular Auckland Tour, New Zealand - Map

Day 1- Auckland - Waitomo - Rotorua
Board the Scenic Tours twin deck coach (most departures) with on board rest room and host service. Morning tea, a light lunch and an evening snack are included.
Your tour takes you via the Waikato, our largest dairy farming province to the Waitomo glow-worm caves for this spectacular display of tiny lights emitted by by unique life forms deep in the cave grotto.

On arrival in Rotorua, visit the Agrodome. Check out wool production on the farm tour, ride in a special purpose farm vehicle, and stroll amoungst farm sheep who will feed from your hand. It's a real agricultural experience on a typical New Zealand farm. NOTE: sturdy shoes and casual clothing are recommended as the animals can get very friendly!

The tour continues via the Government Gardens to Te Puia where you will enjoy a 45 minute Maori song and dance inside Te Puia's sacred meeting house. From there join a one-hour tour of one of Rotorua's most famous attractions - Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve. See woodcarving, weaving displays, a Maori village and the thermal valley with the famous Pohutu Geyser, fumaroles, colourful silica deposits and boiling mud pools. You will be dropped at your accommodation at approx. 5.00pm. This evening you will be collected by a representative of Mitai Tours and transferred to a Maori village for their Maori hangi and concert experience.

Day 2 - Rotorua - Queenstown
Transfer to Rotorua Airport. You will need to make your own flight arrangements for Rotorua - Queenstown. .
Upon arrival in Queenstown, you will be transferred to your hotel or motel.

Accommodation: Scenic Circel Aurum, Bella Vista Motel or similar


Day 3 - Milford Sound Day Excursion
Travel by coach to the Fiordland National Park - a world heritage park. A vast remote wilderness of snow-capped mountains, glacial lakes and valleys, fiords, waterfalls and dense rainforests. From Te Anau, travel to the forested Eglinton Valley, Mirror Lakes, Homer Tunnel and Chasm before arriving at Milford Sound. Enjoy a one and a half hour cruise of Milford Sound viewing the spectacular waterfalls and famous Mitre Peak. An optional scenic flight may be taken for the return journey home to Queenstown (arranged by the coach driver on the day).

Day 4 Queenstown - MountCook - Christchurch
Travel by Great Sights Coach through the rugged Kawarau Gorge to Cromwell and then over the Lindis Pass to the Mount Cook National Park. Time is available for lunch (own expense) before continuing to Lake Tekapo. After a brief stop at the Church of the Good Shepherd, our journey continues across the Canterbury Plains to the garden city of Christchurch by 7.40pm.
