Tours from Christchurch - Dunedin, Queenstown, Milford Sound, Mount Cook - New Zealand Map

Day 1: Christchurch - Dunedin
Travel south by InterCity coach across the manicured Canterbury Plains to seaside Timaru, whitestone Oamaru and alongside the rugged coastline to Palmerston. Then its over the Kilmog Hill and Mount Cargill to Dunedin - the Edinburgh of the south, arriving early afternoon.

Accommodation: Scenic Hotel Southern Cross, Alexis Motor Lodge or similar.

Day 2: Dunedin - Taieri Gorge - Queenstown
This morning depart on a Dunedin heritage tour by double decker bus. See the well known landmarks established by the early Scottish settlers. This afternoon board the Taieri Gorge Train travelling to Pukerangi where you transfer to the coach bound for Queenstown. Winter arrive at 6.45pm, summer arrive in at 8.45pm.

Accommodation: Scenic Suites Queenstown, Bella Vista Motel or similar.

Day 3: Queenstown - Milford - Queenstown
Our journey today traces the shore of Lake Wakatipu to Kingston, then across rich farming country to Te Anau and the beautiful Eglinton and Hollyford Valleys. The Homer Tunnel and the awesome Cleddau Canyon preclude our arrival into Milford Sound. A one and a half hour cruise on magnificent Milford Sound is included in the fare. Return to Queenstown approx. 7.30pm for tonight's stay.

Day 4: At Queenstown
A full day for you to enjoy this fabulous resort. We have included the Skyline Gondola in your tour. There are dozens of optional activities as well - thrilling jetboating on the rivers, white water rafting, helicopters through the chasms, A J Hackett's world famous bungy jumping, cruises on the lake on the vintage 'TSS Earnslaw', high country sheep stations, gold panning and spectacular walking trails. The list is endless with something for everyone.

Day 5: Queenstown - Mount Cook - Christchurch
We leave Queenstown and travel with Great Sights through the rugged Kawarau Gorge to Cromwell and then up over the Lindis Pass to the Mount Cook National Park. Time is available for lunch (own expense) before continuing to Lake Tekapo. After a brief stop at the Church of the Good Shepherd, our journey continues across the Canterbury Plains to the garden city of Christchurch. Our arrival time is approximately 7.45pm.

SPECIAL TRAIN TOUR INCLUSION
The Taieri Gorge train is a blend of modern carriages with skylights and panoramic windows - and for the nostalgic traveller, lovingly refurbished traditional style carriages. Become part of the special environment of the Taieri River Gorge which cannot be seen by road. Spectacular changes of scenery and magnifi cent examples of pioneer stonework and engineering makes this an experience to savour.
