Tours from Christchurch - Queenstown, Milford Sound, Mount Cook, Franz Josef, Fox Glacier - New Zealand Map

Leaving Queenstown we travel north through the historic gold mining region of the rugged Kawarau Gorge to the fruit growing region of Cromwell. Skirting the shores of Lake Dunstan, created by the mighty Clyde hydro dam, we pass through the golden tussock country of the Lindis Pass to Omarama, our refreshment stop.

Across the McKenzie Country, notable for the extensive hydro electric power development in the area, we then follow the shores of Lake Pukaki to the Mount Cook National Park. Mount Cook is Australasia's highest mountain at 3754 metres and with ten other mountain peaks all over 3000 metres, this region is spectacular and full of possibilities for the outdoor enthusiast.

There is a stop of approx. 2hours at Mount Cook village for lunch (extra cost) or to enjoy one of the many alpine walks and then continue to Tekapo. The final part of our journey takes us through the rural towns of Fairlie and Geraldine, across the Canterbury Plains and into the Garden City of Christchurch.
