In Wellington board the Interislander Ferry that will take you across to Picton where you board your InterCity coach bound for Nelson. Your journey today passes through the Marlborough vineyards and the Nelson state forests, arrive into Nelson at 2.30pm.

Your full day tour to the Abel Tasman National Park commences with a morning pick up from your accommodation. Drive through horticultural areas to Motueka and on to beautiful Kaiteriteri beach where you board your launch. You have various walking options in the National Park during the day before returning to Nelson at approximately 6.00pm.

Travel south with InterCity Coachlines following the rugged coastline through the Paparoa National Park to Punakaiki. There is a brief opportunity to view the pancake rocks and the blowholes before continuing your journey to Franz Josef where you arrive at 5.05pm.

Today we have included a short sightseeing tour with Glacier Valley Eco Tours. You will be taken by shuttle bus to the Franz Josef Glacier viewing point. Visitors can view the glacier after a short 10 minute walk (this walk is not guided). We have also included entry to the Glacier Hot Pools.

Dense rainforests and the abode of the rare and graceful Kotuku (White Heron) contrast with rugged coastal vistas as we travel with Newmans Coachlines deeper into South Westland. The Haast River guides us inland over the Gates of Haast, arriving in the holiday resort town of Queenstown by 4.15pm.

Full day at leisure in Queenstown. There are dozens of optional activities such as thrilling jet boat rides on the river, white water rafting, helicopter rides, bungy jumps and cruises on the lake (all extra expense).

Travel with Great Sights to the Fiordland National Park - a world heritage park. A vast remote wilderness of snow-capped mountains, glacial lakes and valleys, fiords, waterfalls and dense rainforests. From Te Anau, travel to the forested Eglinton Valley, Mirror Lakes, Homer Tunnel and the Chasm before arriving at Milford Sound. Enjoy a one and a half hour cruise of Milford Sound viewing the spectacular waterfalls and famous Mitre Peak.

Travel with Great Sights through the rugged Kawarau Gorge to Cromwell and then over the Lindis Pass to the Mount Cook National Park. Time is available for lunch (own expense) before continuing to Lake Tekapo. After a brief stop at the Church of the Good Shepherd, our journey continues across the Canterbury Plains arriving in the garden city of Christchurch by 7:45pm.
This tour can operate in reverse finishing in Wellington on day 8.
