Day 1Christchurch - Mount Cook - Queenstown
Depart Christchurch, travelling south then west across the Canterbury Plains to the foothills of the Southern Alps. At Lake Tekapo, the first of two glacial lakes we will see today, time is available to photograph the beautiful Church of the Good Shepherd overlooking the lake.  Reaching Mt Cook village you have time for lunch and perhaps a visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Centre (additional cost). Our afternoon journey to Queenstown passes by the hydro- electric power schemes of the MacKenzie Country and the stone fruit growing region of Cromwell.

Day 2 Full Day Excursion to Milford Sound
A coach journey to one of the world's greatest natural wonders- the Fiordland National Park - a world heritage area. A vast remote wilderness with snow capped mountains, glacial lakes and valleys, fiords, waterfalls and dense forests. Travel to Te Anau and on to the forested Eglinton Valley, through the Homer Tunnel and out into breath-taking Milford Sound. Enjoy a one and a half hour cruise of Milford Sound viewing the spectacular waterfalls and famous Mitre Peak.

Option: A scenic flight (extra cost) may be taken for the return journey to Queenstown. Please ask at time of booking.

Day 3 Queenstown at leisure
A full day at leisure for you to enjoy this exciting year round holiday resort. There are many optional activities - jetboating, white water rafting, bungy jumping, lake cruise, wine tasting, golf, fishing, tramping and many more.  We have included a Skyline Gondola ride in your tour package.

Day 4 Queenstown - Christchurch
Today depart Queenstown travelling via the stone fruit growing area of Cromwell, the town of Omarama famous for its gliding, Tekapo and the rural towns of Fairlie, Geraldine and Methven through to the "Garden City" of Christchurch.


*Prices are per person and include: pick up from centrally located pre tour accommodation, transfers to / from accommodation throughout the tour and activities as specified in the itinerary. Expenses of a personal nature such as meals (except where stated in the itinerary), beverages, travel insurance, laundry and optional sightseeing are not included in the tour cost.

What is an independent tour?
 Independent tours are not escorted group tours - they are for independent travellers. What this means is that it is not the same group of people travelling on their own coach with a tour leader/escort looking after you. You are travelling independently. However, you are picked up and dropped off at your accommodation each morning and evening and interesting commentary is provided on many sectors.

Cancellation policy

If after your booking has been confirmed you wish to cancel, the following cancellation fees will apply:

  • For cancellations up to 7 days prior to travel – loss of deposit.
  • For cancellations 7 days – 48 hours prior to travel – 50% of total fare will apply.
  • For cancellations within 48 hours prior to travel – 100% of total fare will apply.

All tours may be amended provided these arrangements are made more than 15 days prior to departure. Amendments will incur a fee of NZ$50.00 per file change. Amendments within 15 days of departure will also incur additional fees in accordance with the policies of our suppliers.

Conditions of travel:

Pacific Travel reserves the right to alter fares, amend itineraries, book alternative accommodation or to cancel tours. Pacific Travel shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage to luggage or personal effects and/or damage resulting in death or personal injury which might arise whilst on tour with Pacific Travel or its nominated suppliers.
