Day 1 Christchurch - Mt Cook - Queenstown
Depart Christchurch at 7.30am and travel south with Great Sights following the foothillsof the Southern Alps to Mt Cook Village via Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki. Time for lunch (extra cost) or take one of the many alpine walks in the area. Depart for Queenstown travelling via the Lindis Pass and the Kawarau Gorge. Arrival in Queenstown is approx 6.20pm.

Day 2 Full Day Excursion to Milford Sound
Depart Queenstown at 7.00am. A coach journey with Great Sights to one of the world's greatest natural wonders - the Fiordland National Park - a world heritage park. A vast remote wilderness with snow capped mountains, glacial lakes and valleys, fiords, islands, waterfall and dense forests.
Travel to Te Anau and on to the forested Eglinton Valley, through the Homer Tunnel and out into breath-taking Milford Sound. Enjoy a one and a half hour cruise of Milford Sound viewing the spectacular waterfalls and famous Mitre Peak. Arrive back at Queenstown at approx 7.30pm.
An optional scenic flight may be taken for the return journey to Queenstown (additional cost). If interested in this option, please request at time of booking.

Day 3 Queenstown - Franz Josef Glacier
Leaving Queenstown at 8.10am with Newmans Coachlines, travel to the West Coast passing through Cromwell, Wanaka and Hawea before climbing over the Haast Pass into the Westland National Park. The Haast Pass is our southern-most pass that traverses the Southern Alps linking the east coast with the west coast. Arrive into Franz Josef at 4.10pm and you will be taken to your hotel/motel. At 4.45 pm you will be collected by Glacier Valley Eco Tours and transferred to the Glacier Carpark where you can take any one of the number of short walks available to see the glacier (this walk is not guided).

Day 4 Franz Josef - Christchurch
Travel north with InterCity CoachLines through lush rainforests and spectacular scenery to Greymouth where we transfer to on to The TranzAlpine train. A remarkable journey of little more than four hours from the west coast to the east coast including the lush rainforests of the Arthur's Pass National Park. Pass through the Southern Alps via the Otira Tunnel, cross massive viaducts over the Waimakariri Gorge descending to the fertile farmlands of the Canterbury Plains and on to the Garden City of Christchurch, arriving at 6.05pm.
Option: Spend an extra day at the glaciers to experience a half day guided walk onto the glacier or to enjoy some of the many bushwalks.
