DESCRIPTION
This one day tour to Milford Sound is a "must see" on any visitors itinerary and one not to miss.

Situated in the breath-taking Fiordland National Park it's easy to see why this area gained World Heritage status by the United Nations in 1986. Powerful and extraordinarily beautiful no matter the weather, this fiord deserves its reputation as one of the worlds most spectacular fiords.

Leaving Queenstown, you follow state highway 6 south east, around the banks of stunning Lake Wakatipu. Stopping near Te Anau (The Alpine Centre), gateway to the Fiordland National Park, you'll have time for morning tea (own cost). Continuing along Milford Road, you'll see some of the natural beauty and spectacular scenery this area is renowned for.

Places of interest you may visit during your tour:

Eglinton Valley - a deep valley between two of the regions mountains offering spectacular photo opportunities.
Mirror Lakes - enjoy a brief walk through the trees to the lake edge and witness the mirrored reflection of the surrounding mountain ranges on the lake surface.
Knobs Flat - here you maybe able to view the highest 'knobs' (grass covered hillocks) that appear across the Eglinton Valley, thought to have been created by a significant land slump after the last glacial period ended.
Monkey Creek - now deep in the Fiordland National Park, the natural beauty and purity of the area can be seen. Take your water bottle and fill it with the fresh, clean water from Monkey Creek (one of the few places you can safely drink water from a stream).

On arrival into Milford Sound you join the Milford Eco Cruise for a 1.5 hour cruise of the fiord. With glaciated mountains, stunning waterfalls and beautiful rainforest - not to mention the friendly wildlife there is something to see with every turn of your head.  A boxed picnic lunch is on board for you to enjoy at your leisure. At the end of the cruise re-join your coach for your journey back to Queenstown.  A stop is made late afternoon for refreshments (own cost).  Arrival back into Queenstown is approximately 7.45pm.
