Travel south with Greatsights and then west across the Canterbury Plains to the foothills of the Southern Alps. At Lake Tekapo, the first of two glacial lakes we will see today, time is available to photograph the beautiful Church of the Good Shepherd overlooking the lake. After lunch (not included) at Mount Cook, take one of the many alpine walks in the area or to visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Centre.
Our afternoon journey to Queenstown passes by the hydro- electric power schemes of the MacKenzie Country and the stone fruit growing region of Cromwell. Arrive Queenstown 6.30pm
Accommodation: Scenic Suites Queenstown, Bella Vista Motel or similarA coach journey to one of the world's greatest natural wonders- the Fiordland National Park - a world heritage area. A vast remote wilderness with snow capped mountains, glacial lakes and valleys, fiords, waterfalls and dense forests. Travel to Te Anau and on to the forested Eglinton Valley, through the Homer Tunnel and out into breath-taking Milford Sound. Enjoy a one and a half hour cruise of Milford Sound viewing the spectacular waterfalls and famous Mitre Peak.
An optional scenic flight, at own expense, may be taken for the return journey to Queenstown (request at time of booking).

Today depart Queenstown on the Newmans service via the stone fruit growing area of Cromwell, the town of Omarama famous for its gliding, Tekapo and the rural towns of Fairlie, Geraldine and Methven through to Christchurch where you arrive approx. 4.30pm.
