A two day tour with TranzScenic following the seacoast through the Canterbury and Marlborough Provinces. Points of interest include: TranzCoastal train, rugged Kaikoura coastline, Kaikoura Whalewatch cruise, Picton (entrance to the Marlborough Sounds) and the Interisland ferry that links the South and North Islands.

Day 1 Christchurch - Kaikoura
Board the TranzCoastal train for your journey north to the seaside resort of Kaikoura. See rolling farmland, the beautiful Kaikoura coastline and the rugged Kaikoura mountain range.

This afternoon enjoy a 3 hour cruise with Kaikoura Whalewatch to marvel at the giant sperm whale and the dusky dolphin. Kaikoura Whalewatch has won many international awards for tourism excellence and marine conservation.

Accommodation: Bella Vista Motel, Anchor Inn Motel or similar

Day 2 Kaikoura - Picton - Wellington
This morning is free to look around or to take the whalewatch cruise if weather prevented you travelling the day before. You will then be transferred to the railway station in time to board the TranzCoastal train.

Enjoy the rugged Kaikoura coastline and the imposing seaward Kaikoura mountain range as you make your way to Picton in the Marlborough Sounds.

Upon arrival in Picton, board the Interislander for your scenic cruise through the Marlborough Sounds to Wellington, arriving at 4.30pm.

This tour can operate in reverse finishing in Christchurch on day 2.
